I have been keeping bees since 2023 after several years of helping at the Bristol Beekeepers Association hives.
My apiaries are in Tickenham and Sneyd park.
In 2024 I have had my first crop of honey, which was very exciting. This won the Novice Cup at the Bristol Honey Show and was placed second in the taste class amongst all other entries.
I sell my honey by word of mouth and normally by September all my honey has been sold but other members of Bristol Beekeepers have more supplies. I have also made candles with wax made by the bees.
In 2025 I entered the Bath and West Show – my honey was placed third in the taste class and my wax block won first prize ( a second cup for the mantle piece)! All very exciting for a novice. I also won a first in the novice candle class.
